From the Back of the Book:

Working Title:

The Children of the Stars

Story Synopsis:

For over fifteen hundred years, the descendants of the original crew aboard the starship Farrazoz have been hopelessly lost in space, searching for a way back to a home they’ve never known. Their ancestors embarked on their journey centuries ago on a mission to find a new planet for humanity to colonize after Earth had become inhospitable. But that mission ended in disaster when an unexplained catastrophe struck—a catastrophic navigational failure that sent the Farrazoz hurtling off course, far from any known star systems. The reasons behind the failure are lost to history, buried beneath fragmented records and corrupted star charts.

Ever since, generation after generation has shouldered the burden of trying to return to Earth. But the task seems insurmountable. Strange malfunctions plague the ship, often pulling it further off course, leading some to wonder if the Farrazoz is haunted by the ghosts of its past. These rumors only add to the heavy mantle of responsibility carried by Arvie Heller, the ship’s current navigator, who is tasked with deciphering the mystery of the Farrazoz’s path. Arvie pores over damaged astrogation data and generations of captain’s logs, searching for a clue that might guide them. Yet every promising lead ends in another lifeless star system. Each failure weighs heavier on her, as she knows the stakes: if she cannot find a way, the Farrazoz may become this generation’s tomb.

Matters take a turn for the worse when a series of unexplained power surges begins causing critical systems to fail, plunging the ship toward catastrophe. The malfunctions seem too deliberate to be coincidental, and Arvie starts to suspect sabotage. Meanwhile, centuries of confinement and isolation have fractured the crew into divided factions, their tenuous unity threatening to unravel. Tensions boil over, and whispers of mutiny grow louder. As chaos looms, Arvie fights to hold the ship and its people together, all while battling the crushing weight of her responsibility.

Then, when all hope seems lost, the Farrazoz receives an enigmatic signal—a beacon leading to an undiscovered wormhole. Arvie is instantly intrigued. To her, the wormhole represents the ship’s last desperate chance for salvation. But the crew is divided: some see the signal as a trap set by an unknown alien force, while others believe it to be their long-awaited miracle. With time running out and the ship on the brink of collapse, Arvie decides to take the gamble. She gives the order to enter the wormhole.

What the Farrazoz discovers on the other side changes everything. The truth about their centuries-long voyage is finally revealed, uncovering the secrets of their original mission, the navigational disaster, and the mysterious forces that have shaped their journey across the stars. For Arvie and the crew of the Farrazoz, their discovery marks the end of one chapter—and the beginning of another.
